Today, the City of Chicago announced that it has reached a $90 million global settlement, subject to City Council approval, in 176 remaining police misconduct lawsuits connected to disgraced Chicago Police Department Sergeant Ronald Watts.
The plaintiffs in these cases are represented by the civil rights law firm of Loevy + Loevy and the Law Office of Kenneth Flaxman. The two firms issued the following joint statement in response:
“After nearly a decade of litigation, we are happy that the parties were able to work together to reach a resolution to this dark chapter in the City’s history. This was the responsible thing to do and is ultimately a fair result for all parties.”
