Loevy + Loevy secured a $12,975,000 settlement in a whistleblower case where our client alleged that his employer, LifeWatch Services, was violating Medicare and Medicaid regulations by using technicians in India—many of whom were not properly certified—to analyze heart scans. The lawsuit alleged this practice was illegal because the law only allows Medicare and Medicaid to pay for technicians in the United States. Our client brought this practice to light by using the False Claims Act to file a lawsuit on behalf of the government. United States ex. rel. Cieszynski v. LifeWatch Services, Inc., Case No. 13-cv-4052 (N.D. Ill.).
