Biography
Katie Montenegro joined Loevy & Loevy as an attorney in 2024. Katie’s practice focuses on civil rights violations arising from wrongful prosecutions across the country.
Prior to joining Loevy & Loevy, Katie co-founded a criminal defense practice where she litigated state post-conviction, federal habeas, and federal clemency cases. She has published in the areas of post-conviction litigation and the criminalization of gang membership.
Katie graduated with honors from DePaul University College of Law. During law school, she worked in the Center for Justice in Capital Cases and clerked at both the Cook County and Federal Public Defender offices.
Outside of her litigation work, Katie is the author of a children’s book series promoting self-esteem in kids and proud Chicagoan.
