The Transparency Team’s work focuses primarily on state and federal Freedom of Information Act, Open Meetings Act, press freedom, and First Amendment litigation. Among other cases, the Team forced the City of Chicago to release the Laquan McDonald shooting video and the Department of Justice to unredact the Mueller Report, and forced the release of records for the Pulitzer Prize-winning podcast In the Dark.
The Transparency Team Summer Associate will learn by working closely with the Team’s experienced attorneys throughout the summer. Typical assignments include drafting briefs and motions, as well as assisting with depositions and a variety of court appearances. The Transparency Team typically accepts one Summer Associate each year.
