Loevy & Loevy is a top tier national civil rights law firm. We are leaders in civil rights, whistleblower and False Claims Act, privacy, and transparency cases.

The Transparency Team at Loevy & Loevy represents journalists and advocacy organizations in their efforts to shine a light on government under state and federal Freedom of Information laws. Among other cases, the Team forced the release of the Laquan McDonald shooting video, material from the Mueller Report, and records helping to exonerate an innocent person.  The Team also litigates open meetings, First Amendment, and court-access cases.  The Team handles a large docket of cases in a fast-paced but collegial and supportive environment.

We are now accepting applications from exemplary candidates for a full-time attorney position to begin work in Fall 2022. The position will primarily be responsible for writing trial and appellate court briefs and handling oral arguments, with very limited discovery-related work.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of litigation experience.  Experience with FOIA or other public-interest litigation is valued but not required, and attorneys with traditional law firm experience interested in exploring new opportunities, as well as former law clerks and non-profit attorneys, are encouraged to apply.  The Team is based in Chicago, but candidates in other jurisdictions will also be considered.

Compensation: Dependent on experience, with a minimum base salary of $100,000 per year plus bonus, with full benefits.

To apply: Please send a cover letter, resume, transcript, list of references, and a writing sample to TransparencyHiring@loevy.com. Candidates selected for interviews will be notified on a rolling basis.

We are looking for exceptional people who will bring diligence, creativity and compassion to their work and who share our values of working in a collaborative, client-centered environment to advance the public interest.

Loevy & Loevy is an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and an inclusive culture. We welcome applications from first-generation professionals and encourage applications from all qualified individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran’s status, or national origin.
