Loevy & Loevy is a nationally recognized litigation firm devoted to public interest litigation. We are one of the largest and most successful firms in our field. Summer Associates form an important part of the Loevy & Loevy team each year.

We are now accepting applications from 2Ls for our 2024 Summer Associate program for our Freedom of Information/Transparency practice. To apply, please send a cover letter, resume, transcript, list of references, and a writing sample to summerassociates@loevy.com. The FOIA & Transparency Team at Loevy & Loevy represents journalists and activists in their efforts to shine a light on government practices through the disclosure of critical information and documents. For example, among other cases, the Transparency Team forced the release of the Laquan McDonald shooting video, documents describing the horrific conditions of ICE detainees, and removal of some of the redactions to the Mueller Report. The Transparency Team’s cutting edge work also involves First Amendment litigation, including protecting the right of free speech against governmental abuse. More information about the practice is available here: https://loevy.com/first-amendment/.

Summer Associates learn by working closely with experienced attorneys throughout the summer. They are given meaningful, substantive legal work, and they participate in a wide range of litigation activities across our practice areas. Typical assignments include drafting briefs and motions, as well as assisting with case investigations, witness interviews, hearings, and trials.

The ideal candidate is a person who is hardworking and is passionate about freedom of information and transparency. Strong writing and research skills, and an ability to work efficiently, are essential.

Loevy & Loevy is an equal opportunity employer. We value a diverse and inclusive culture. We welcome Summer Associate applications from first-generation law students and students with prior criminal convictions. We strongly encourage applications from qualified individuals of any race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, veteran’s status, or national origin.
