Loevy & Loevy is a nationally recognized litigation boutique practicing in the public interest. We are leaders in civil rights cases, whistleblower and False Claims Act lawsuits, and--in connection with our Exoneration Project at the University of Chicago Law School--post-conviction criminal proceedings.
Loevy & Loevy is now accepting applications for 2012 Summer Associates and Summer Law Interns in its Chicago office.
Our Summer Associates and Summer Law Interns gain valuable experience by participating in a wide range of litigation activities, including depositions, case investigations and witness interviews, the drafting of briefs and motions, as well as hearings and trials.
Loevy & Loevy is a trial law firm. We have tried dozens of cases in the federal and state courts over the past 10 years, and candidates selected for summer positions have the unique opportunity to learn from some of the most experienced civil rights trial lawyers in the United States. The firm also maintains a robust appellate practice, and summer hires interested in appeals often assist in briefing and argument before the U.S. Courts of Appeals.
There are 20 lawyers in Loevy & Loevy's Chicago office. We work together in an intellectually intense but socially relaxed atmosphere.
Summer Associates:
Loevy & Loevy is accepting applications for Summer Associate positions from 2Ls and also from 3Ls who plan to begin clerkships following their graduation from law school. The ideal candidate is a person who is passionate, intelligent, and is committed to civil rights and achieving justice. Strong writing and research skills and an ability to work independently and efficiently are essential.
Loevy & Loevy selects 2 or 3 candidates for Summer Associate positions each year, and competition is intense. Summer Associates are paid $5,000 for their participation in a 12-week program. Start and end dates are flexible.
Summer Law Interns:
Loevy & Loevy is also accepting applications for Summer Law Intern positions from both 1Ls and 2Ls who are interested in gaining first-hand experience in civil rights trial work and post-conviction criminal proceedings. Our Summer Law Interns are not compensated, but opportunities to work for our non-profit Exoneration Project with outside funding secured by the candidate are available. In addition, students licensed to practice under Illinois Supreme Court Rule 711 will have ample opportunities to gain in-court experience.
Loevy & Loevy selects 2 or 3 Summer Law Interns each year. The internship lasts between 10 and 12 weeks.
Application Process:
Please send a cover letter indicating the position for which you are applying, resume, transcript, references, and a brief writing sample by email to Steve Art. Loevy & Loevy will be accepting applications from November 1, 2011, until January 31, 2012. Candidates selected for interviews will be notified on a rolling basis.
