Recent examples of our cases involving the violation of people's rights under the 4th Amendment protection against unlawful searches and seizures:

The Gayles Family: After a shooting in the neighborhood, Chicago police officers broke into the Gayles family home late one night, and tore their way through the home, breaking glass and their belongings. The Gayles family settled the case for $83,000.

The Cooperwood Family: The Cooperwoods were also terrorized by Chicago police officers who entered their home without any legal justification. Once inside the home, the officers damaged property and threatened the family, which included very young children. The Cooperwoods settled the case for $45,000.

The Hernandez Family: Several Chicago police officers, operating with no warrant, broke down the back door to the family's apartment and threatened Ms. Hernandez and her three young children. The police improperly threatened to remove Ms. Hernandez’ children -- all of whom were well cared for and healthy -- to the Department of Children and Family services if she did not give them information about a man whom she did not know and had never met. The Hernandez family settled the case for $75,000.
