Before joining Loevy & Loevy, lawyer Mike Kanovitz practiced in the field of class actions, and he has filed several class action lawsuits since joining the firm:

Most recently, Loevy & Loevy filed a $50 million civil rights class action in Dunn v. City of Chicago for detaining criminal suspects beyond 48 hours, an entrenched practice which plainly violates the suspects' Fourth Amendment rights. The lawsuit has at least 1,500 class members, and has generated multiple stories in the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun Times, as well as coverage on ABC-TV's national news and National Public Radio. Judge Gettleman certified the civil rights law class action in October 2005.

Loevy & Loevy is also class action legal counsel in the case of Solon v. Midwest Medical Records Assoc., Inc., Case No. 04 CH 7199, which was certified in August 2005. The lawsuit seeks damages as well as injunctive relief on behalf of hundreds of thousands of Illinois patients against one of the largest medical record management companies in the country.

Loevy & Loevy is constantly investigating other possible civil rights class action suits, as well as class actions outside of the civil rights law field. We always welcome opportunities to collaborate with other law firms on class actions.
