Hiring Opportunities

Loevy & Loevy is always looking for outstanding attorneys with an interest in civil rights litigation. Applicants must have truly superior credentials and excellent writing skills. Because we do battle for the underdogs against armies of defense lawyers, you must be extremely creative, self-motivated, and highly-efficient.

Associates at Loevy & Loevy enjoy virtually unprecedented opportunities to gain litigation experience, including depositions, brief writing, court appearances, oral arguments, and trials. Attorneys all have their own caseloads -- supervised to the degree dictated by your experience level -- of fascinating and important civil rights cases.

We have a unique niche in a field where, unlike most legal disputes, cases are leanly-staffed and actually go to trial. Frequently. The opportunity for intensive federal litigation experience cannot be understated. Litigation is definitely not for everyone, but if you are a litigator or aspire to be one, one month of litigating at our firm translates to a year of experience at many other firms.

Also, if you are finding yourself disenchanted with typical law firm assignments, our clients are real people who need our help to remedy real injustices and government abuses. Big firm experience is definitely a plus as far as we are concerned, because we believe that lawyers who worked for huge corporate clients understand the importance of making their legal work product perfect, a principle we have adapted to our civil rights practice.

In terms of workplaces, Loevy & Loevy embodies everything that is desirable about a small firm. We are extremely casual (e.g. wear whatever you like, bring your dog/kids to work), very flexible, and fun. We all like each other very much, and will only hire someone who shares our sense of collegiality and team, with an emphasis on team. More than most law firms, we are constantly meeting and collaborating on our various cases to discuss problems and strategies and to draw on each other's experiences. If the team concept does not appeal to you, this firm will not be a good fit.

Do not apply unless you are looking to work hard. The passion and enthusiasm we bring to our cases consumes much of our energy and time. That said, all of the lawyers in the firm have found that working hard for causes in which we believe has a completely different feel than the billable hours grind which we left behind at the big firms. We work hard because we love what we do, and if that does not sound right to you, you should not apply. But if this sort of work appeals to you, this is an extraordinary job with unparalleled opportunities for experience and career satisfaction.
