Anand Swaminathan graduated from Harvard Law School in 2006. During law school he worked at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, a student-run legal services center, where he focused on housing matters and government benefits cases. Anand was awarded the Andrew L. Kaufman Award, given each year to the graduating student who provided the most pro bono service during law school, for performing more than 2,000 hours of volunteer legal work.
After law school Anand clerked for Judge Theodore H. Katz of the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. After completing his clerkship, he worked as an associate at Vladeck, Waldman, Elias & Engelhard, a New York law firm specializing in plaintiff-side employment matters. While at the Vladeck firm, Anand litigated individual and class action cases involving employment discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, and violations of minimum wage and overtime laws. He also represented whistleblowers in cases under federal and state qui tam statutes, including the False Claims Act. He joined Loevy & Loevy in 2010.
In addition to practicing law, Mr. Swaminathan served as the Treasurer of the South Asian Bar Association of New York, and was a member of the International Human Rights Committee of the New York City Bar Association.
