Aaron joined Loevy & Loevy in April, 2009. His practice is focused on civil rights cases involving police accountability and wrongful convictions.
Before joining Loevy & Loevy, Mr. Mandel was an associate in the general litigation group of the Chicago office of Sidley Austin LLP. His practice there focused on federal and state court litigation in a range of areas, including consumer class-actions, white-collar investigations, judicial and attorney ethics, real estate, employment, reinsurance, ERISA, tax, and contract disputes. He also worked on a number of pro bono matters, including the merits appeal before the United States Supreme Court in Rivera v. Illinois, regarding a criminal defendant's right to challenge jurors. He successfully applied for asylum on behalf of a woman fleeing political persecution. He also successfully argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit to overturn the denial of asylum for a woman fleeing female genital mutilation, and ultimately obtained asylum for her in the immigration court.
Mr. Mandel graduated from the University of Chicago Law School and was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 2004. Mr. Mandel completed a clerkship for the Staff Attorney of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in 2006.
